Baseball Recap: Pueblo Centennial Comes Up Short

Pueblo Centennial had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 4-17 to make it six. They lost 11-1 to the Pueblo South Colts. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Pueblo South, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-8. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

For Pueblo South's part, Caeden Herrera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Herrera has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MJ Molina, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Israel Allen was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Pueblo Centennial has already played their next game, an 8-5 loss against Air Academy on the 12th. As for Pueblo South, they will challenge Glenwood Springs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Demons will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight.
