Baseball Game Preview: Estancia Bears vs. Penasco Panthers

The Estancia Bears will face off against the Penasco Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Estancia is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Santa Rosa, falling 21-1.

Estancia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leon Maxwell-Preisen, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Penasco faced off against Questa on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 19-6 to the Wildcats.

Lyrik Montoya and Elias Noll stepped up to the plate in a big way. Montoya scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Noll scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Xavier Noll was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Penasco's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-11. As for Estancia, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Estancia took their win against Penasco in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 by a conclusive 16-9 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
