Baseball Recap: Everett Wins Going Away Against Chelsea

Everett came out on top against Chelsea on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The Crimson Tide put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Crimson Tide have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jose Portillo looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Freni, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Reinaldo Santiago was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one double, and one RBI.

Everett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Everett's record is now 7-5. As for Chelsea, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Everett is taking a road trip to challenge Charlestown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chelsea, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Excel Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
