Softball Game Preview: Alta-Aurelia Warriors vs. Newell-Fonda Mustangs

Alta-Aurelia is 2-8 against Newell-Fonda since June of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Alta-Aurelia will be strutting in after a victory while Newell-Fonda will be coming in after a loss.

Alta-Aurelia took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Storm Lake St. Mary as they made off with a 9-1 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Newell-Fonda's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Estherville Lincoln Central on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Midgets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Newell-Fonda's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Alta-Aurelia, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Alta-Aurelia might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Newell-Fonda in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
