After flying high against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks on Friday, the Lakeland Christian Vikings came back down to earth. Lakeland Christian was dealt a 73-27 loss at the hands of Foundation Academy on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Christian has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Lakeland Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Eleni Katzaras. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points. The match was Katzaras' third in a row with at least ten points.
Lakeland Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Avery Michels continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Foundation Academy, scoring 25 points along with three steals. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. Emma Parker was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Lakeland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Foundation Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Lakeland Christian and Excel Christian Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
