Football Recap: Golden Valley Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Golden Valley had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-4 to make it five. They fell 40-28 to the Hart Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 34-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Golden Valley still got an impressive performance from Jayce Johnson, who rushed for 57 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 169 yards and one touchdown.

As for Hart, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points over those games.

Matix Frithsmith produced another solid performance rushing for 131 yards and three scores on only 14 carries, while also picking up 52 receiving yards. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Bailey Hill got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Looking ahead, Golden Valley will challenge Castaic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.2 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hart, they are taking a road trip to square off against West Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
