Softball Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Takes a Loss

Academy for Academic Excellence fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hesperia on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hesperia Scorpions. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Scorpions earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Academy for Academic Excellence got a massive performance out of Dayleen De Los Cuetos, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave De Los Cuetos a new career-high. Kayla Berg was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Academy for Academic Excellence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia only posted a batting average of .233.

Academy for Academic Excellence now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for Hesperia, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 5-6-1.

Academy for Academic Excellence will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Big Bear at 3:15 p.m. on April 1st. Hesperia also won't see the field for a while: their next matchup is against Serrano at 3:15 p.m. on April 1st.
