Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Briar Woods

Independence are taking a road trip to challenge the Briar Woods Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Independence is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Riverside on Monday. Independence fell just short of Riverside by a score of 1-0. Independence fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Riverside since on Monday.

Meanwhile, Briar Woods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 6-1 to Stone Bridge. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Briar Woods were already down 5-0.

Briar Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 1-10-1. As for Independence, they now have a losing record of 6-7-2.

Everything went Independence's way against Briar Woods in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Independence made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Independence since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
