Basketball Recap: Commerce Tigers vs. Rains Wildcats
It was a good run, but the Commerce Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 54-39 fall against Rains. While losing is never fun, Commerce can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while the Wildcats are ranked 68th).
Leading Rains to victory were Jasey Campbell and Haley Robertson. Campbell scored ten points along with seven steals and five rebounds, while Robertson scored 23 points along with four steals. Robertson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 26-8. As for Rains, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-2.
Commerce does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rains will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
