Space Coast is 1-9 against Rockledge since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Space Coast will venture away from home to face off against Rockledge at 7:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Space Coast's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Cocoa Beach with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Vipers in their matchups with the Minutemen: they've now won nine in a row.
Paige Reynolds made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Space Coast got a massive performance out of Cameron Flaskamp, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Flaskamp has posted since back in April of 2024. Ana Muniz was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Space Coast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Rockledge came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 17-2 win. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Riley Ravenscroft spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.
On the hitting side, Gizelle Arteaga was a standout: she scored four runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylah Comeau, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Rockledge's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Space Coast, their record now sits at 7-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Space Coast hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Rockledge struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Space Coast suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Rockledge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Space Coast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
