Softball Recap: Marshall Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Marshall is still undefeated this season after their game against Robinson on Tuesday, but Robinson came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Lions came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Maroons. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Lions have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Lynn Welborn was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Davis, who went 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

Marshall's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Robinson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will host Effingham at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Robinson, they will be playing at home against Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Aces will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Maroons surely won't give up without a fight.
