Baseball Recap: Welch Snaps 11-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

While Welch's win against Commerce wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Tigers on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 25, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Colten Moss, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hardin, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Welch's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11. As for Commerce, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Looking ahead, Welch will face off against Colcord at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Commerce, they will head out to face off against Bluejacket at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
