Baseball Game Preview: Desert Vista Thunder vs. Corona del Sol Aztecs

The Desert Vista Thunder are taking a road trip to take on the Corona del Sol Aztecs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Vista is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Kason Webb tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Desert Vista let Noah Gutierrez and Jayden Garrison run wild. Gutierrez went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Garrison went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alex McKee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Corona del Sol faced Desert Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Aztecs came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Aztecs.

Corona del Sol pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Desert Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.

Desert Vista couldn't quite get it done against Corona del Sol in their previous matchup on Thursday as they fell 6-2. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
