The McCutcheon Mavericks will take on the Avon Orioles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCutcheon will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
McCutcheon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-6 win. The Mavericks not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15th (when they won 19-0).
Meanwhile, Avon had just enough and edged out Fishers 6-4 on Wednesday. The Orioles haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Addie Forst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Stopperich, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Katie Huckaby was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Avon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
The win got Avon back to even at 9-9. As for McCutcheon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McCutcheon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Avon struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
