Softball Recap: Fremont Has No Trouble Against Macdonald

Fremont's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the MacDonald Condor as they made off with a 15-2 victory. This was a revenge game for the Firebirds: when they faced off against the Condor back in April, they had to take a 12-6 loss.

Charlene Hiek made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Natalie Kim was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Jiyah Caban was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Fremont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Fremont's record is now 4-10. As for MacDonald, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fremont is set to square off against their familiar foe Lynbrook at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, MacDonald will challenge rival Palo Alto at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
