Football Game Preview: Chalker Wildcats vs. Holgate Tigers

The Chalker Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Holgate Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Chalker is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: McKinley, who was ranked seventh at the time (Chalker was ranked first). The Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Trojans 52-12. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tanner Kelson was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 37 yards and one score, and also threw for 17 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024.

Kelson was just one part of a punishing run game: Chalker was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKinley only rushed for 20.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Holgate, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They blew past Cardinal Stritch, posting a 60-6 win. The game marked the Tigers' most dominant victory of the season.

Holgate now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chalker, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Everything came up roses for Chalker against Holgate when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 68-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
