Softball Recap: West Point Gets the Win

West Point won the last time they faced Russellville and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Point Warriors came out on top against the Russellville Golden Tigers by a score of 9-6.

Katherine Yovino was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Cabri Blackwood also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Yovino wasn't the only one working in the home run department: West Point lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

West Point's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-9. As for Russellville, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Point will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Good Hope at 4:00 p.m. on April 8th. As for Russellville, they will take on Pelham in a tournament on March 28th.
