Baseball Game Preview: Malvern Hornets vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

The Malvern Hornets will take on the Monroe Central Seminoles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Malvern made easy work of Aquinas and carried off a 9-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Monroe Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Barnesville, sneaking past 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Seminoles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Monroe Central let Prestin Binegar and Drew Landefeld run wild. Binegar went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Landefeld went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Landefeld has posted since back in March. Caedyn Silva also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Malvern's record now sits at 9-14. As for Monroe Central, their record is now 9-17.
