Football Game Preview: Erath Bobcats vs. Westlake Rams

The Erath Bobcats will square off against the Westlake Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Erath 14.2, Westlake 10.5) so any points scored will be well earned.

Westlake will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Erath extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Bobcats came out on top against Vermilion Catholic by a score of 24-14.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Westlake and DeRidder, and DeRidder kept the tradition alive. The Rams took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons on Friday. The loss was the Rams' first of the season.

Erath will have to contain Brody Anderson as he made an impact in Westlake's last game. He rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 101 yards on eight of 18 attempts. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 71 yards. Issac Jordan also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.

Erath's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Westlake, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Erath barely slipped by Westlake in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 21-20. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rams' Kevin Rideau Jr, who picked up 196 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
