Baseball Game Preview: Ephrata Mountaineers vs. J.P. McCaskey Red Tornado

Ephrata has gone 6-1 against J.P. McCaskey recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. Ephrata will take on J.P. McCaskey at 4:15 p.m. Ephrata's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so J.P. McCaskey's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Ephrata didn't have quite enough to beat Muhlenberg and fell 4-3. The loss was the Mountaineers' first of the season.

Collin Miller was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Ethan Hunt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole six bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Landry Weidner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for J.P. McCaskey's offense. They came up short against Exeter Township on Friday, falling 12-0. The Red Tornado just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

J.P. McCaskey's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Ephrata, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Ephrata took their victory against J.P. McCaskey in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-1. Does Ephrata have another victory up their sleeve, or will J.P. McCaskey turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
