Seattle Christian hasn't had much luck against Bellevue Christian recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Seattle Christian Warriors will face off against the Bellevue Christian Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Seattle Christian sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Cleveland. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by just one run.
Eli Messer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Wainscott, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Aaby, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Bellevue Christian put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Nooksack Valley get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Vikings yet this season.
Mason Hill made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, Luke Evenson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Evenson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Declan Englund also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Bellevue Christian pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Seattle Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.
Seattle Christian might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Bellevue Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Seattle Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
