Basketball Game Preview: New Life Academy Bobcats vs. Rock Church Lions

New Life Academy is 2-8 against Rock Church since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the New Life Academy Bobcats challenge the Rock Church Lions at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Rock Church is hoping to do what Bethel Assembly Christian Academy couldn't on Monday: put an end to New Life Academy's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Everything went New Life Academy's way against Bethel Assembly Christian Academy as New Life Academy made off with a 61-40 victory. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Eagles are ranked 661st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rock Church came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 67-45 margin over Bethel Christian.

New Life Academy pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Rock Church, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

New Life Academy skirted past Rock Church 34-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does New Life Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rock Church turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
