Softball Recap: Orion Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Orion had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the Monmouth-Roseville Titans with a sharp 17-5 win. That's more bragging rights for the Chargers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Orion let Lainey Kunert and Sydney Wesley run wild. Kunert went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Wesley went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Wesley a new career-high. Khloe Nelson was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Orion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Orion's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Monmouth-Roseville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Monmouth-Roseville will challenge Bushnell-Prairie City at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Orion will be paying especially close attention to the Titans' match: after the Titans faces off against the Spartans, they'll take on Orion again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
