Basketball Game Preview: Eastern View Cyclones vs. Varina Blue Devils

Eastern View is 0-3 against Varina since December of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Eastern View Cyclones will face off against the Varina Blue Devils. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Eastern View is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 68-40 victory over Powhatan.

Meanwhile, Varina entered their tilt with Hanover on Tuesday with four consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 80-47. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Hawks are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastern View's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Varina, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.

Eastern View came up short against Varina in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 86-82.
