Basketball Game Preview: Leavitt Hornets vs. Waterville Panthers

The Leavitt Hornets will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Waterville Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leavitt will be strutting in after a victory while Waterville will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row dating back to last season, Leavitt turned things around against Oak Hill on Friday. They blew past the Raiders 49-28. The Hornets pushed the score to 42-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Raiders cut but never quite recovered from.

Caitlyn Mccoy had a dynamite game for Leavitt, going 6 for 14 on her way to 15 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Boutaugh, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Waterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 62-22 loss at the hands of Mount Abram.

The win got Leavitt back to even at 1-1. As for Waterville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Leavitt beat Waterville 46-38 when the teams last played back in January of 2015. Does Leavitt have another victory up their sleeve, or will Waterville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
