Basketball Recap: Gary Hoxie Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Vista Grande

Maricopa posted their biggest win since December 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Vista Grande Spartans with a sharp 74-50 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maricopa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gary Hoxie, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Maricopa is 6-3 when Hoxie posts ten or more boards, but 2-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Mason Wyatt, who went 9-for-18 en route to 17 points.

Maricopa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Maricopa's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Vista Grande, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
