Basketball Recap: High Island Takes a Loss

High Island lost against Chester back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The High Island Cardinals lost to the Chester Yellowjackets at home by a 46-29 margin. The Cardinals' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it 11 in a row.

When it comes to explaining why High Island lost, don't look at Cam'Ron Medina. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points. That was a full 48.3% of High Island's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jacoby Kent, who put up six points.

High Island's record now sits at 2-16. As for Chester, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hull-Daisetta the next time they take the court. High Island will head out to face Hull-Daisetta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Chester will head out to face them at 7:01 p.m. on January 14th.
