Baseball Recap: Bergen Charter's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bergen Charter had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the University Academy Charter Generals on Monday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. Considering Bergen Charter's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Kevin Montez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Justin Haroz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Rogelio Salcedo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

Bergen Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bergen Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for University Academy Charter, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Looking ahead, Bergen Charter will challenge Elmwood Park at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University Academy Charter, they will square off against Dickinson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
