Softball Recap: Seymour Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kewaunee

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seymour). They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Kewaunee Storm on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Kendra Rettler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazi Lee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six RBI, two triples, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Wery, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Seymour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Seymour pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Kewaunee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will host New London at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Kewaunee, they will be playing at home against Peshtigo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
