Basketball Game Preview: Springville Orioles vs. Maquoketa Valley Wildcats

The Springville Orioles will venture away from home to face off against the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Springville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Last Tuesday, Springville didn't have too much trouble with East Buchanan as they won 67-48. Given the Orioles' advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 329th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Maquoketa Valley beat Starmont 54-42 on Tuesday.

Springville is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Maquoketa Valley, their record is now 8-5.

Springville was able to grind out a solid win over Maquoketa Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 65-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
