Harnett Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Koby Howard, who threw for 303 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Howard has posted since back in October of 2024. King Murdock did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 100 receiving yards.
Harnett Central didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited South View to a completion percentage of just 35.3%. The team can thank Dj Brown for the heroic effort on defense: he. Harnett Central has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.6 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.6 in their last three games.
Harnett Central's defensive line didn't let Jamaal Brown, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Trent Haney, Nolan Bullock, and Daivion Parks, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in South View's side was Haney, who picked up a sack and made 18 total tackles.
Despite the loss, South View still got an impressive performance from Brown, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 101 yards and one touchdown. Brown also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Tigers are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 3-5 otherwise. South View also got a significant boost from Cristian Simmons, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.
The win (which was Harnett Central's third in a row) raised their record to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.7 points over those games. As for South View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Looking ahead, Harnett Central will challenge Jacksonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 858 yards in their previous games. South View does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
