Marshfield is a perfect 3-0 against Ashland since October of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates will welcome the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Marshfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Ashland likes a good challenge.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Marshfield and Mazama, and Marshfield kept the tradition alive. The Pirates took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over the Vikings. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-6.

Marshfield got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Tice out in front who rushed for 157 yards and one score on only 12 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Those 157 rushing yards gave Tice a new career-high. Another signal caller making a difference was Enoch Niblett, who threw for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes.
Marshfield's run defense was locked in: Mazama could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least six total tackles, Tice stood above the rest. He rushed for 157 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Marshfield didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 10.3.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Marshfield, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hadyn Widdicombe, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ashland came up short against North Bend on Friday and fell 47-39.
Marshfield will have to keep a close watch on David Carter and Colton Hernandez, a pair of players who had a big impact on Ashland's prior game. Carter picked up 233 receiving yards and four scores, while Hernandez threw for 382 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. With that strong performance, Carter is now averaging an impressive 110.8 receiving yards per game. Oscar Hernandez helped Colton out on the ground, picking up 82 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 68 yards.
Ashland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Saxon Brock. Ty Paulson was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles.
Ashland dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Marshfield, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Marshfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 236.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Ashland, though, as they've been averaging only 84.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Marshfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Ashland in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 41-33. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Grizzlies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
