Preview: Seagoville Dragons vs. North Mesquite Stallions
The Seagoville Dragons will look to defend their home court on Friday against the North Mesquite Stallions at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Samuell typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Seagoville proved too difficult a challenge. They skirted past the Spartans 37-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Seagoville has posted yet this season.
Travion Hall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Adrian Valdez-Mata, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, North Mesquite had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 70-60 victory over Poteet. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Mesquite's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Brooks, who scored 14 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Brooks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jermiah Grigsby was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five assists and four steals.
Seagoville has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for North Mesquite, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
Seagoville came up short against North Mesquite when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 62-58. Can Seagoville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
