Baseball Recap: Edison's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Edison dropped their record down to 9-13-1 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 8-3 to the Bear Creek Bruins. If the Vikings were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Bruins when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Edison saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alberto Cervantes, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Cervantes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

As for Bear Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Bear Creek's side, Kevin Johnson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Johnson has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Bayani, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Bear Creek is undefeated when Bayani posts two or more runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Logan Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

While Edison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
