Softball Recap: Seneca Bobcats vs. Saegertown Panthers
Seneca and Saegertown squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Seneca had to settle for second. They lost 12-5 to the Saegertown Panthers. Seneca was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Saegertown apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
For Saegertown's part, Mikaila Obenrader was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Obenrader has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Obenrader was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Saegertown got a massive performance out of Maggie Triola, who went 4-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and two RBI. Natalie Halsey was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Seneca's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Saegertown, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
