Softball Recap: Oak Ridge Makes It 17 in a Row on the Road

Oak Ridge won the last time they faced Granite Bay and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Grizzlies 3-1.

Ellison Schroeder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carly Short, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Molly Railey, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Oak Ridge's victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Granite Bay, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Ridge will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Del Oro at 5:00 p.m. on the 23rd. As for Granite Bay, they will head out to take on Davis Sr. at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
