Baseball Recap: Elkhart Comes Up Short

After flying high against Culver Academies on Saturday, Elkhart came back down to earth. The Lions fell 12-8 to the Westview Warriors on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lions, who until this contest were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.

Elkhart saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brodey Weaver, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and two doubles.

Elkhart's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Westview, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season.

Elkhart and Westview are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Lions will challenge Northridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elkhart is facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Westview, they will take on Churubusco at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
