Ferriday has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Kentwood Kangaroos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Ferriday had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Jonesboro-Hodge 34-6 at home.
Ferriday got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Ellis out in front who threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Taevion Edwards and his 102 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Ferriday's victory.
Meanwhile, Kentwood put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season two weeks ago. They blew past Central Private, posting a 42-12 win on the road. Given Kentwood's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Central Private is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kentwood can attribute much of their success to Eric Earl jr, who threw for 165 yards and a touchdown on only nine passes, and Ja?marion Burton, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
Ferriday's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Kentwood, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.
