League recap: Sayre stuns Cowanesque Valley in upset

Northern Tier 2 recap October 1, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sayre, who took down 552nd ranked Cowanesque Valley, 28-14.

John Bowman and Jesse Lattimer provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Wyalusing Valley. The connection was good for 67 yards, the longest such play in Northern Tier 2 this season.

Canton's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Warriors feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bowman has thrown for 275 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Lattimer has 2 catches for 87 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Canton takes on the Redskins. As it stands, the Warriors are in third, while Sayre is in first.

Larry Hanafin's team moved up to 545 from 572 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Redskins were able to move up by beating the Indians 28-14.
