The Lockney Longhorns will face off against the Floydada Whirlwinds at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Lockney is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 22-7 margin over Memphis on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Longhorns, who have now won three matches in a row.

Dyllan Thiebaud and Darrin Jimenez did most of the damage at the plate: Thiebaud fired off two home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-4, while Jimenez went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Thiebaud a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Southard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Lockney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Floydada got the win against Quanah on Tuesday by a conclusive 18-8.
Adrian Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Floydada: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Eliazar Martinez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was JP Lopez, who scored three runs and stole three bases.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 8-4. As for Floydada, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Everything went Lockney's way against Floydada in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Lockney made off with a 12-1 victory. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Whirlwinds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
