Baseball Game Preview: Aubrey Rogers Patriots vs. Loyola Academy Ramblers

The Aubrey Rogers Patriots will square off against the Loyola Academy Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Aubrey Rogers has 13 straight wins, Loyola Academy has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Aubrey Rogers beats Loyola Academy with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Aubrey Rogers came out on top against Evangelical Christian by a score of 11-6 on Thursday.

Harry Lyons made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Aubrey Rogers got a massive performance out of Tristan DeGenova, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases DeGenova has posted since back in February. Kyle Nolasco was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Aubrey Rogers always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evangelical Christian only posted an OBP of .441.

Meanwhile, Loyola Academy suffered their closest loss since April 18, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Community School of Naples by a score of 7-5.

Aubrey Rogers' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Loyola Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Aubrey Rogers might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Loyola Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Aubrey Rogers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
