Basketball Recap: Poteet Comes Up Short

Poteet lost against West Mesquite back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Poteet Pirates took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Mesquite Wranglers. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 519th, while the Wranglers are ranked 81st).

Poteet's loss dropped their record down to 14-16. As for West Mesquite, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 25-3.

The future could be bright for both Poteet and West Mesquite: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Poteet will try to hand Spruce their 19th-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, West Mesquite will look to extend Adams' four-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
