Softball Recap: Pinelands Regional Wins Going Away Against Toms River North

Pinelands Regional had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Toms River North on Thursday. The Wildcats blew past the Mariners 11-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Elianna Meola made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Theuret, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cassie Gould, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Pinelands Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toms River North only managed nine hits.

Pinelands Regional's record now sits at 13-1. As for Toms River North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.

Coincidentally, Pinelands Regional and Toms River North will both be playing Manchester Township the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will host the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, while the Mariners will host them at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
