Basketball Recap: Skipstone Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Central Georgia Arts last Monday, Skipstone Academy came back down to earth. The Skipstone Academy Warriors took a blow against the Konos Academy Condor on Tuesday, falling 74-34. The match marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Skipstone Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Scooter Barkley, who posted 13 points. That was a full 38.2% of Skipstone Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayten Hayes, who scored six points.

It was another big night for Joshua Knapp, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards for Konos Academy. Those 27 points gave Knapp a new career-high. Caleb Knapp was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.

With the loss, Skipstone Academy broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7. As for Konos Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12.

While Skipstone Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
