Volleyball Recap: Justin-Siena Comes Up Short

Justin-Siena entered their contest against Petaluma on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Braves took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

While Justin-Siena ultimately came up short, they really made Petaluma work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Alyssa Smith, who had 27 assists and seven digs. Those 27 assists gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Schwappach, who had 24 digs and three aces.

Justin-Siena's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Petaluma, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Justin-Siena didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against St. Vincent de Paul on the 19th. As for Petaluma, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Del Campo on the 20th.
