Baseball Recap: Liberty Gets the Win

After only two runs in their last matchup, Liberty made sure to put some runs up on the board against Palmer on Monday. The Liberty Lancers blew past the Palmer Terrors 14-2. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Terrors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Jonathan Van Der Merwede tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evan` Esquibel, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Max Green, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Liberty's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Palmer, their record now sits at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Liberty will head out to challenge Coronado at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palmer, they will face off against Rangeview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
