Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kylah Smith and Toccara Joyner Lead Northampton County to Victory

Northampton County proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 54) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Weldon Chargers out 42-39. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Chargers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 55-24 loss.

Northampton County was led to victory by Toccara Joyner and Kylah Smith. Joyner went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points, while Smith posted six points.

When it comes to explaining why Weldon lost, don't look at Kamya Coles. Despite the final result, she earned 17 points. That was a full 43.6% of Weldon's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Kristyonna Solomon was another key player, putting up ten points.

Northampton County's record now sits at 7-9. As for Weldon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Northampton County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 39-23 win against Rocky Mount Prep on the 1st. Weldon has also already played their next contest (against KIPP P), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
