League recap: Juan Diego Catholic extends winning streak with victory over Park City

Juan Diego Catholic extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region 10 this week by beating Park City, 58-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Soaring Eagles.

The Miners' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ian Moritz threw for 60 yards and Trevor Kelsch had 19 yards receiving. On the ground Moritz chipped in 82 yards. Alec Wing helped Park City's passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.

Wasatch's James Delacenserie and Gavin Nebeker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Delacenserie has thrown for 1967 yards this season, while Nebeker, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 37 catches for 646 yards. Park City's Alex Boyle leads the league in rushing yards with 743.

The Wasps' Delacenserie is within 33 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Kai Smalley's team.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Juan Diego Catholic takes on Judge Memorial. John Colosimo's team is in first place, while the Bulldogs are in third place.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Soaring Eagles take on Judge Memorial. Juan Diego Catholic has allowed 74 points this season, while James Cordova's team has given up 178. The Soaring Eagles allowed 0 points last week as they topped the Miners.

The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,652 from 6,802. The improvement was the result of 27-17 victory over Uintah last week.
