Basketball Game Preview: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Florence Huskies

The Ellicott Thunderhawks will venture away from home to take on the Florence Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Last Friday, everything went Ellicott's way against Buena Vista as Ellicott made off with a 51-31 victory. The Thunderhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Ellicott's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kassiah Ducworth, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Ducworth is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Teysia Tacoronte was another key player, putting up ten points along with five boards and five steals.

Meanwhile, Florence took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 51-22 victory over Custer County. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Ellicott's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Florence, their victory bumped their record up to 7-10.

Ellicott beat Florence 42-31 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will Ellicott repeat their success, or does Florence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
