The Indianapolis Shortridge Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Christel House Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Indianapolis Shortridge had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Warren Central on Saturday. The Blue Devils put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Blue Devils not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 3-0).
Indianapolis Shortridge not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Warren Central between 18 and 21 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Christel House made easy work of Indianapolis Washington on Monday and carried off a 3-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Continentals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-14, 25-20.
Indianapolis Shortridge better keep an eye on Jason De La Cruz. He was instrumental in Christel House's win, getting eight aces and three digs. Those eight aces gave De La Cruz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Cruz Vera, who had five kills, four aces, and three digs.
Christel House was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 12 aces in three consecutive contests.
Indianapolis Shortridge has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Christel House, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything went Indianapolis Shortridge's way against Christel House when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Indianapolis Shortridge made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
